Kurzfassung: This lecture has a focus on the teaching of risk, as an idea especially in schools. Over the last few years, risk is seen as an increasingly important idea which needs to be taught in schools and universities. The recent financial crisis has been blamed on a shallow understanding of risk; the media also contain examples of risk in terms of medicine and climate change is seen as a risk to future generations.
The core idea of probability is taught in schools but is seen in a rather abstract sense, particularly since it is taught as a branch of mathematics and rarely linked to realistic contexts. This lecture will discuss these ideas and ways to develop new pedagogies of probability.
